Country living is good
I just moved here from Europe and I have the special opportunity to live in the countryside. I hung a hummingbird feeder and within minutes the little fellers had found their new eatery. I saw a large jack rabbit with ears pointing straight up. I can hear peacocks call to each other in the mornings and evenings, they have that lonely call that sounds like `helllp, helllp' as if they are in desperate need of company. I also hear coyotes howling to each other after dark, they have such high-pitched messages of conquering their prey. The tall grasses everywhere are home to many critters and the oak trees provide homes for blue jay, finches, and woodpeckers. In fact, I heard a loud radataptap on the side of my domicile,I had to chase off the majestic one so I could get more early morning sleep. The other day at dusk,I watched a flock of wild turkeys queue up and travel the perimeter of the property with their waddles swinging with each step they took. There are palm trees mixed with blackberry bushes, wild rhododendrons, azaleas, geraniums and bamboo covering the terrain. The rainy season is over and now the sun will shine, shine, shine! I'm told there will be nary a cloud in sight for the next 3 months. Living in this tranquil place is a blessing to me because I just had a difficult time in my life and I need to recuperate from all the confusion and derision. Living in Lincoln could help anyone going through a tough time; it will give a sense of calm and peace. We all need a little more of that,n'est-ce pas? Marcia Burton, Lincoln
