Rocklin Pony Baseball continues to expand; Opening day set for Saturday
The Rocklin Pony Baseball program has grown from four teams just five years ago to 26 teams this season with players ranging from 5-to-14 years of age. Rocklin Pony now has a new permanent home with four lighted fields, scoreboards on the way, and a snack bar that league president Yolanda Martinez calls “great.” The fields are located at the new Whitney Ranch Park on Wild Cat Blvd next to Whitney High School. Rocklin Pony is an alternative option for youth who want to play baseball, with no boundaries and an advanced style of play. This allows friends from different areas to play together in the same league. The league uses Major League rules starting with age nine (stealing, leading off, pickoffs, dropped third strike). Opening day is Saturday at 10:30 a.m. and entire families are encouraged to attend.
